Professional Positions: Head Librarian and Bibliographer, Swain Library of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Stanford University (1989-present); and Head, Science and Engineering Resource Group Libraries, Stanford University (1999-2005); Head Librarian, Chemistry Library, University of Michigan (1985-1989); Reference Librarian, Natural Sciences Library, University of Michigan (1981-1984).

Current Professional Activities: Member of the American Chemical Society’s Joint Board Council Committee on Chemical Abstracts Service (CCAS), Advisory Board Member for Science of Synthesis (Thieme), Advisory Committee Member for the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, Editorial Advisory Board Member for the Journal of Chemical Education, Member of ACS CINF Education Committee, Member of the Collaborative CIC-CINF Working Group, and Member of the CAS Academic Advisory Committee.

Research interests: End-user searching and the development of search interfaces, collection development and management, and issues associated with scholarly publications.
