Grace Baysinger is the Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Librarian at Stanford. From 1999-2005, she also served as Head of the Science and Engineering Libraries Resource Group. Prior to arriving at Stanford in 1989, she worked for a decade at the University of Michigan Libraries in the Natural Sciences Library and the Chemistry Library. Grace’s academic degrees include an Accredited Master’s in Library Science from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (1981); B.S. in Botany from the University of Michigan (1978); and A.S. in Science from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Kalamazoo, MI (1974).
Her current responsibilities include developing and managing chemistry and chemical engineering collections, and providing reference help and library instruction. Library-wide contributions include playing a lead role for customized search services that lets users search multiple resources at a time plus supporting publication feeds in Stanford Profiles.
Grace’s professional interests include end-user searching and search interfaces, collection development, and scholarly publishing. She was the guest editor for a Special Issue on Chemical Information that was published in the Journal of Chemical Education (March 2016). Grace serves on several publisher advisory boards and is active at the national and local levels of ACS.
